For most people, t he "holiday
season" is just around the corner. According
to The Economist magazine, in 2006 the average U.S. household
spent about $1,700 during the course of the holiday season
on consumer items as gifts. Most of these gifts end
up either forgotten or in the trash within a few months – a
real tragedy when you consider that most of the world's
population is struggling to survive on less than $2 per
day. The funds we spend on luxury items could be
used to help people around the world whose basic needs
for food, clothing and shelter are not being met.
You can do something about it. This year, instead of purchasing
yet another gift item that will be discarded within a few
months, why not donate those same funds to VeAhavta and

For a donation of just $30 or $40, you or your loved one can support a child or elder at the Grace Care Center for an entire month. And for each donation you make, you or the person in whose name you give will receive a special thank you card, handmade by a child or
elder at the Grace Care Center. The card will include
a 4"x6" photograph and personal message from
the child or elder who made it, as well as a letter from
VeAhavta to the recipient of the card explaining who purchased
it and what the funds will accomplish. You tell us
where to send the card and we’ll mail it out starting
as early as December 1, 2007.
Just imagine – for your $30 or $40 donation, you will be
providing for all of the basic needs of a child or elder
at the Grace Care Center for an entire month! This includes housing, food, clean drinking water, medical care and an education.
