Miss Swaminathen was welcomed into the Mercy Home family along with her older sister Sauntharraanthnam in January of 2006. She recently had a cataract operation to improve her vision.

In her words: "My older sister and I took care of one another all of our adult live. We moved from Colombo to find work and we were lucky to find work in an hotel where we could also live. When the owner moved to India his friend recommended that we move to Mercy Home. Due to my sister’s poor health condition I like to help the nursing staff take care of her. We live more happily than we did in the hotel."
